North Charleston:

The third largest city in South Carolina, North Charleston has a population of over 85,000, and claims the distinction of connecting the City of Charleston with all points north and west through its many major thoroughfares. It is home to Charleston International Airport which, while serving four major airlines, is a hassle-free, efficient point of arrival and departure for travelers. The North Charleston Coliseum is a new 14,000 seat arena and is home to the Charleston Stingrays professional hockey team and also features concerts and other major events. Berkely County:

One of the first English settlements in the country, Berkely County lies north of Charleston. This lovely area, with its natural beauty, has been able to retain its rural flavor, while also enjoying all the conveniences of a major city.

  • Hanahan, a community with a close proximity to Downtown Charleston, is a popular residential area with modestly priced homes and apartments.
  • Goose Creek, an attractive family community, is the County's largest town, with a population of 25,000. Located just north of Hanahan, the city boasts 10 parks along with tennis courts, ball fields and six golf courses.
  • Moncks Corner, the Berkely County seat, maintains its small rural town charm. Lying just north of Goose Creek, the area around Moncks Corner lays claim to two rather spectacular settings; Lake Moultrie, a 60,400 acre lake which is a favorite of fishermen and all water sport enthusiasts. Thirty-five boat landings and 14 campsites are available for the outdoorsman. Francis Marion National Forest is a 270,000 acre forest reserve, a dream come true for hunters, hikers, and bird watchers alike. Berkely County is also home to Cypress Gardens, a College of Charleston Park, which offers a year round spectacular foliage display.

Dorchester County:

Lying northwest of Charleston, Dorchester County is primarily rural, with its main attraction, the gracious hamlet of Summerville, nicknamed "Flowertown", due to its enchanting display of camellias, azaleas and dogwoods, which attract visitors from afar each spring. This quaint town, with its lovely Victorian homes and picture book Main Street, is rising in popularity as a desirable place to live. The National Audubon Society's Frances Biedler Forest, a haven for native plant and animal life, is situated north of Summerville, where visitors may stroll along boardwalks above the "black waters".
